PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
Villa Battifollo is a beautiful agriturism, situated on the top of a hill near the town of Cortona. It is the perfect option to escape from daily routine, where spending a weekend cuddled, far from the city and the noise. An oasis of yesteryear where it seems that time has stopped and where, walking in the landscape, you can stop to admire the panorama and getting lost in the valley below. Also the panorama is amazing and from the swimming pool there is a breathtaking view on landscape and on Montepulciano, lucignano, Cortona, Arezzo.
Villa Battifollo spreads over 15 hectares in the municipal district of Cortona. Its lands enjoys a favourable location, are well exposed to the sunlight and are suitable for the cultivation of olive trees, grapevines, wheat, sunflowers.
Cortona, situated just 14 km away, is one of the twelve cities of the Etruscan League-substantial fragments of its primitive cyclopean defences can still be seen, incorporated in the medieval walls. Apart from a few fine Renaissance palaces, the prevailing character of Cortona's architecture is medieval, conferring on the steep narrow streets a strong sense of atmosphere. The city is commandingly situated (altitude 600 metres) and there are magnificent panoramas to every point of the compass, embracing the whole of the Val di Chiana. In the surroundings we have: Pienza,Montepulciano, Siena, Firenze, Assisi, Perugia.
The Restaurtant
The restaurant is a special part of the Villa. It’s designed for guests staying in the agriturismo and to other people who would like to dine under the stars. Originally a machine shed for tractors, as the agritourism grew and the Micheli family understood what appealed to their guests, it was renovated into a restaurant.
The focal point is the large terrace, and it’s the perfect place to enjoy intense emotions, whether that means an aperitif at sunset or dinner under the stars.
A Magical Terrace and the Flavors of True Tuscany
It is here that the Villa’s guests, and others, can enjoy traditional Tuscan cuisine: fresh handmade pasta, meat sauce, and Tuscan crostini are only a few of the à la carte specialties. The restaurant is open only in summer and can host 25 people.
Reservations are recommended. The restaurant is open from June to the end of September, from Wednesday to Sunday. Lunches, events and ceremonies can only be organized on request. Guests not staying at the Villa can enjoy the terrace but will not be able to visit the gardens or swimming pool as these are reserved for guests staying at Villa Battifollo.
